Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a painful condition caused by overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons. It leads to inflammation and small tears in the tendons that connect the forearm muscles to the outer part of the elbow. Despite its name, tennis elbow can be caused by any repetitive gripping or wrist movements, not just in tennis. Symptoms include pain and tenderness on the outer side of the elbow and weakness in the affected arm. Rest, ice, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory medications are common treatments for tennis elbow.
