Oklahoma City Thunder’s star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be absent from Wednesday night’s game against the surging Houston Rockets due to a quad injury.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who ranks as the NBA’s third-leading scorer with an average of 30.4 points per game, has been battling through a right quad contusion sustained last Wednesday when he collided with a knee to the leg. This absence marks only the second missed game for Gilgeous-Alexander this season.
Despite the injury, Gilgeous-Alexander has maintained impressive performance statistics, shooting 54 percent from the floor while also contributing 5.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.
The Thunder, currently holding a record of 50-21, are positioned just half a game behind Denver for the top seed in the Western Conference as they enter Wednesday’s matchup.
On the other hand, the Houston Rockets are riding a nine-game winning streak, making them the team with the longest active winning streak in the NBA. With a record of 36-35, the Rockets are trailing Golden State by just one game for the 10th and final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
