In their Big Ten Conference finale, Nebraska delivered a commanding performance, securing an 85-70 victory over Michigan. Keisei Tominaga led the charge with a game-high 30 points, propelling Nebraska to a 22-9 overall record and a 12-8 conference finish. This win solidified the Cornhuskers’ NCAA Tournament resume, marking their best conference finish since the 1992-93 season when they tied for second in the Big Eight.
Michigan, on the other hand, concluded the regular season on a challenging note, losing eight consecutive games and finishing with an 8-23 overall record and a 3-17 conference record—one of the worst in school history.
The second half proved crucial for Nebraska as they pulled away from Michigan by consistently generating quality shots. The Cornhuskers showcased impressive shooting accuracy, hitting 57.9 percent of their field-goal attempts (33 of 57), compared to Michigan’s 39.7 percent (23 of 58). Nebraska dominated the paint, outscoring Michigan 48-26 in that area.
Keisei Tominaga, the dynamic Japanese guard, played a pivotal role in Nebraska’s victory, scoring 30 points and surpassing the 1,000-point mark in his three-season stint with the Cornhuskers. Josiah Allick contributed 15 points, while Rienk Mast and Brice Williams added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Michigan’s point guard, Dug McDaniel, led the team in scoring with 17 points overall, but he was held scoreless in the second half. Terrance Williams II chipped in with 14 points for the Wolverines.
At halftime, Nebraska held a 50-43 lead, with Tominaga delivering an outstanding first-half performance, scoring 23 points. The Cornhuskers shot an impressive 70 percent from the floor in the opening half.
With this victory, Nebraska earned a double-bye in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis and will play on Friday against an opponent determined by the latest results. Michigan, seeded No. 14, will face the No. 11 seed on Wednesday in the tournament. The Cornhuskers look poised for a strong postseason run after concluding the regular season on a high note.
