Taina Mair was the standout performer, contributing 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while flawlessly managing to avoid turnovers. Ashlon Jackson added 13 points and five assists, and Kennedy Brown made a notable impact with 11 points and five blocks.
Strategically dominating each quarter, Duke closed the first quarter on a 12-4 run and ended the second frame on a 15-3 run. The Blue Devils solidified their dominance by initiating the fourth quarter with an impressive 16-0 run.
This victory marked Duke’s third-largest margin of victory this season and their most significant triumph against a power-conference opponent. The Seminoles, who suffered their third consecutive defeat, endured their biggest loss of the season, shooting a season-worst 22.4 percent from the floor. Duke further showcased their dominance on the boards, grabbing a season-high 58 rebounds and outclassing Florida State by 23 in the rebounding battle.
No. 19 Virginia Tech Secures Convincing Win Against Georgia Tech
Blacksburg, Va. – Elizabeth Kitley’s standout performance propelled No. 19 Virginia Tech to an 87-69 victory over Georgia Tech.
Kitley amassed an impressive 29 points and nine rebounds, leading the Hokies to success. Georgia Amoore made a significant impact in her return from a one-game absence due to a concussion, contributing 24 points and 13 assists. Olivia Summiel added 12 points and nine rebounds, and collectively, Virginia Tech shot an impressive 55.4 percent from the floor, garnered 20 assists, and won the rebounding battle 37-25.
Despite the loss, Tonie Morgan shone for Georgia Tech, scoring a career-best 26 points, while Rusne Augustinaite chipped in 17 points in a hard-fought contest.
