In a stunning NFC wild-card playoff game on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas, the Green Bay Packers delivered a commanding performance, securing a 48-32 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Aaron Jones emerged as the star of the game, rushing for an impressive 118 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Green Bay’s young quarterback, Jordan Love, made a memorable playoff debut, completing 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards and contributing three touchdowns to the winning effort. Love’s stellar performance was complemented by standout plays from Romeo Doubs, who caught six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, and Darnell Savage, who had a remarkable 64-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur couldn’t hide his admiration for Love’s performance, stating, “Man, Jordan Love, wow, that’s about all I can say, is wow.”
On the other side, Dak Prescott led the Dallas Cowboys’ offense with 41 completions on 60 attempts, accumulating 403 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Despite Prescott’s efforts, the Cowboys were unable to overcome the formidable Green Bay team.
The Packers dominated from the start, establishing a 27-0 lead that left the Dallas crowd, including Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, visibly stunned. This impressive performance allowed Green Bay to tie a team record for the most points scored in a playoff game, matching their 2010 NFC divisional round achievement against the Atlanta Falcons.
Aaron Jones initiated the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, setting the tone for the Packers’ dominance. Love and his receiving corps continued to exploit the Cowboys’ defense, with a 1-yard touchdown run by Aaron Jones and a 20-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks in the first half.
Darnell Savage’s interception return for a touchdown extended the Packers’ lead to 27-0, leaving the Cowboys scrambling to respond. Dallas managed to get on the scoreboard with a Prescott touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson on the final play of the first half, narrowing the margin to 27-7.
Despite a field goal from the Cowboys early in the second half, Green Bay’s relentless offense, led by Aaron Jones, who secured his third rushing touchdown, maintained control of the game. Love’s connection with Luke Musgrave for a 38-yard touchdown and a 3-yard touchdown pass to Doubs further solidified the Packers’ dominance.
While the Cowboys mounted a late-game offensive surge with additional touchdowns from Tony Pollard and Ferguson, it was not enough to overcome the Packers’ commanding lead.
Speaking about their resilience, Love stated, “We’ve been counted out a lot of the season, but everybody keeps battling, keeps competing. I think it’s just noise on the outside. We’re not worried about it. We keep coming out here and showing what we’re about, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
