New Zealand coach Scott Robertson has finalized his coaching staff with the appointment of Tamati Ellison as the contact skills coach. Ellison, a former All Black with four test caps, previously worked with Robertson as an assistant at the Crusaders since 2021.
The experienced Ellison will continue his coaching role at the Crusaders under new head coach Rob Penney while also taking on responsibilities with the national team. Ellison’s expertise in contact skills will contribute to the All Blacks’ preparation and performance on the field.
The coaching staff includes notable figures like Jason Holland (backs), Jason Ryan (forwards), Leon MacDonald (attack), and Scott Hansen (defence), all of whom have significant experience at the top level. Wayne Smith will support the group as a performance coach.
Scott Robertson, who took over as head coach from Ian Foster after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, is gearing up for his first international assignment. The All Blacks are scheduled to face England in a two-test series during the July window, with a potential third test against Fiji also in the planning stages.
This coaching staff reshuffle reflects New Zealand Rugby’s commitment to assembling a formidable team as they look ahead to upcoming challenges on the international stage.
