Nikola Jokic scored 35 points and had 13 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 108-105 at home on Wednesday night. Reggie Jackson also contributed with 20 points, while Michael Porter Jr. added 17 points to help the Nuggets sweep their four-game homestand. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 23 points, followed by Klay Thompson with 15.
Golden State played without Draymond Green and Gary Payton II, while Denver guard Jamal Murray missed his second straight game due to a hamstring strain. Despite trailing 107-102 in the final minutes of the game, the Warriors managed to narrow the gap to two points with Curry’s 3-pointer. However, Jokic missed two free throws which gave the Warriors an opening, but Thompson’s last-second 3-point attempt slipped out of his hands.
The game was closely contested throughout, with the lead constantly changing hands. Golden State went on a 10-4 run in the third quarter to get within 63-59, and stayed close to the Nuggets until the final whistle. Trayce Jackson-Davis split a pair of free throws to give Golden State a 78-76 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Despite facing a deficit in the fourth quarter, Denver eventually took control of the game with Caldwell-Pope converting a three-point play to put them ahead 92-87 with just over eight minutes to go. The game continued to go back-and-forth until Jackson’s layup gave the Nuggets a 103-98 lead with 2:23 left, which they held onto until the end.
Overall, it was a hard-fought victory for the Denver Nuggets against a strong Golden State Warriors team.
