Tottenham Hotspur’s winger, Manor Solomon, is set to be sidelined for several months following a knee injury he sustained during training, according to manager Ange Postecoglou. The 24-year-old Israeli has been a part of Spurs’ Premier League campaign this season, appearing in five out of seven games. However, his absence will be a significant blow to the team’s upcoming matches, including their Premier League fixture against Luton Town.
Postecoglou expressed his disappointment over Solomon’s injury, noting that the player had been making contributions and growing into his role at the club. With Ivan Perisic already unavailable due to injury, losing another player in that position is less than ideal for Tottenham.
Despite the setback with Solomon, there is positive news regarding the fitness of Son Heung-min and James Maddison. Both players had to be substituted early in previous matches against Liverpool and Arsenal to protect them from lingering knocks. According to Postecoglou, Son Heung-min is fit and has trained without any issues, while Maddison has been working hard and hasn’t missed any training sessions.
Tottenham has enjoyed an unbeaten start to their Premier League campaign and currently sits in second place, level on points with Arsenal and just one point behind league leaders Manchester City. With Arsenal and Manchester City set to face each other in a crucial match on Sunday, a win for Tottenham against Luton would briefly propel them to the top of the table. However, Postecoglou emphasized the importance of maintaining their focus on delivering a strong performance regardless of their league position, recognizing the competitive nature of the Premier League.
Regarding the controversy surrounding a disallowed goal for Liverpool due to a VAR communication error in their recent match, Postecoglou commented that even if he had knowledge of the situation during the game, he would not have made a decision to allow Liverpool to score to rectify the error. He stressed the heavy responsibilities managers have at their respective clubs and their commitment to their club’s interests.
