San Diego football head coach Brandon Moore has announced the hiring of Nick Fulton as the Toreros’ new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
“Exciting times are ahead as we welcome Coach Fulton,” said Moore. “His innovative approach and proven experience will help elevate our program. I’m thrilled to reunite with him and build on our past success together.”
Fulton brings over 20 years of experience in college football, both on and off the field. He joins USD from the University of Wyoming, where he served as Associate Athletics Director for Football Operations. There, he handled team travel, budget oversight, academic coordination, and was instrumental in launching the program’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) efforts.
Now returning to coaching, Fulton expressed excitement about the new role. “I’m grateful to Coach Moore for the opportunity. Being back on the field with young athletes has reignited my passion for coaching,” he said.
Before Wyoming, Fulton served as offensive coordinator at Colorado Mesa and Northern Colorado, but his most impactful run came alongside Moore at Colorado School of Mines from 2015–2018. There, the duo led the Orediggers to two RMAC titles, two NCAA Division II playoff appearances, and nation-leading offensive stats, including a top-ranked offense in both 2016 and 2018.
In 2016, he coached quarterback Justin Dvorak, who won the Harlon Hill Award as Division II’s top player. In 2017, his running back Cameron Mayberry ranked third nationally in rushing yards and all-purpose yards.
Fulton began his coaching career in 2005 at his alma mater, the University of Sioux Falls, where he was a standout offensive lineman. He later coached at Doane College, Black Hills State, and also had a graduate assistant stint at Wyoming.
A native of Laramie, Wyoming, Fulton is married to Becki, and the couple has two daughters, Gwenna and Mara.
