Morgan State University’s Mikeal Carpenter has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year for the second time in his career. The announcement came Wednesday evening during the 2025 All-MEAC Tennis Awards ceremony.
This repeat honor highlights Carpenter’s dominant presence in the conference and solidifies his legacy as one of MEAC tennis’s most accomplished athletes.
A senior, Carpenter has been a standout all season, demonstrating both athletic excellence and strong leadership. He has been the driving force behind Morgan State’s success this year, particularly in the No. 1 singles position.
Carpenter posted a remarkable 13-1 overall record this spring, showing unmatched consistency and control. He was especially dominant in MEAC competition, going undefeated with a 4-0 record against conference opponents.
In doubles play, Carpenter also showed versatility by teaming up with multiple partners throughout the season. His most effective partnership came with fellow senior Makkijha Brown. The duo compiled a solid 4-2 record, contributing key points to the Bears’ overall performance.
Carpenter’s achievements this season not only reflect his individual talent but also his value as a team player and leader. With two MEAC Player of the Year titles now under his belt, he leaves a lasting mark on the program and the conference.
