Maggie Hartwig Signs with South Dakota State Women’s Basketball for 2025-26 Season

South Dakota State women’s basketball has announced the addition of Maggie Hartwig to the 2025-26 roster. Hartwig, a 6-1 forward from Sauk City, Wisconsin, transfers to SDSU after two successful seasons at Evansville, where she has two years of eligibility remaining.

During her sophomore season with the Aces, Hartwig averaged 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She posted 20 or more points in 10 games, including a career-high 29 points in a February matchup against Southern Illinois. Hartwig also had 13 games with double-digit rebounds, with a career-high 20 boards recorded against Southeast Missouri State in November. Her scoring ranked seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference, while her rebounding average placed her third.

Over her two seasons at Evansville, Hartwig averaged 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She started 58 of 62 games, recorded 17 double-doubles, and scored a total of 868 points.

Before her time at Evansville, Hartwig starred at Sauk Prairie High School, where she averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds per game as a senior in 2023-24. She was a multi-time all-conference and all-state selection.

Hartwig is the daughter of Missy and Nick Hartwig and plans to major in human biology.
