Fordham University freshman Jeremy Victoria has been named the Atlantic 10 Under Armour Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week for his outstanding play from April 14 to April 20, the league office announced today.
Victoria went 2-0 in singles play during the week, including a dramatic comeback win that helped the Rams secure a key victory over Saint Joseph’s.
He started his week strong with a straight-set victory over Sacred Heart’s Percy Meehan, winning 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles spot on Wednesday. On Saturday, Victoria delivered one of the week’s biggest moments against Saint Joseph’s Eli Gan-Dy. After taking the first set 6-3, he dropped the second 6-2 and fell behind 5-2 in the deciding third set. But the freshman battled back to win the set 7-6 (3), clinching the overall team win for Fordham.
Thanks to strong performances like Victoria’s, the Rams earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship—Fordham’s highest seed ever in the tournament. They will begin their run on Thursday, April 24, facing No. 5 seed Davidson at 4:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
