The University of San Francisco women’s basketball team has announced the signing of forward Sophia Priestley for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Molly Goodenbour welcomed the addition, praising Priestley’s offensive skills.
“Sophia has a great offensive skill set,” Goodenbour said. “She’s a strong scorer who attacks the basket with confidence. We’re excited to bring her to the Hilltop and see her continue to grow.”
Priestley will join USF after a strong season with Ullern IF Oslo in Norway’s top women’s league, the Kvinneligaen. In the 2024-25 campaign, she averaged 13.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the field across 19 games. She recorded four double-doubles, including a 22-point, 10-rebound effort in a 67-58 win over Asker on February 26.
Her performance earned her the league’s Forward of the Year award and a spot on the First Team. Priestley helped Ullern finish the regular season with a 14-6 record and a second-place league standing, winning nine of their final 11 games.
Internationally, Priestley also represented Norway in the U18 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2024 Division B. Over seven games, she averaged 11.1 points, a team-best 7.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. She grabbed seven or more rebounds in five of those games.
Her standout moments included an 11-rebound game in a dominant 79-48 win over North Macedonia and a 16-point, six-rebound performance that helped Norway edge Austria 64-62 in their final match.
Priestley, a native of Oslo, Norway, brings size, versatility, and experience to USF as she prepares for her first NCAA Division I season.
