Only the top six women’s and men’s programs, selected by a panel of conference administrators, qualified for this year’s championship.

This marks the 23rd time in the last 27 years that W&M has entered the CAA Championship as either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. The Tribe holds a 10-2 all-time record as the No. 2 seed and previously won titles from that position in 2022 and 2024—both at Elon.

William & Mary enters the tournament with a 13-5 record and went 4-1 in conference play this season, notching wins over Charleston (No. 4), UNCW (No. 5), Towson, and Hampton.

The Tribe has long dominated the CAA, claiming 29 of the league’s 39 all-time women’s tennis titles and finishing as runner-up seven times. Last season, William & Mary captured its third consecutive title under head coach Jessica Giuggioli, defeating Delaware 4-0 in the championship match.

Since the CAA switched to its current head-to-head format in 1995, W&M holds a 72-9 (.889) record in the tournament. Overall, the program is 172-24 (.878) against conference opponents. Against current CAA teams, the Tribe boasts a 69-6 (.920) record, including 29-2 under Giuggioli over the past four seasons.

The 2025 CAA Championship begins Friday with two quarterfinal matchups. At 10 a.m., No. 4 Charleston (15-9) will face No. 5 UNCW (9-6), while No. 3 Delaware (17-7) plays No. 6 Campbell (8-8). Winners will move on to Saturday’s semifinals. The championship match is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday, with an automatic berth in the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship on the line.
