The Portland State Vikings have added a new player to their roster for the 2025-26 season, as Head Coach Jase Coburn announced the signing of Brycen Long, a 6-2 shooting guard from Arizona State.
Long, a graduate transfer, becomes the fourth signee for the Vikings, joining a team that returns seven players, including two starters. His signing fills a specific need for the program as Coburn sought to strengthen the team for the upcoming season.
“We are thrilled that Brycen is a Portland State Viking,” said Coburn. “We had a specific plan in our recruiting this spring, and adding Brycen is exactly who we were looking for. He is a great shooter, but what sticks out the most about Brycen is his ability to make winning plays. Not only is he a great player, but also a tremendous person. Our team is equally as excited as our staff.”
Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, Long had a standout career at Houston Christian University in the Southland Conference, where he played for three seasons. In his junior year (2022-23), Long averaged 14.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 41.6% from three-point range. He made 94 three-pointers that season. During his sophomore year, he averaged 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
Long transferred to Arizona State for the 2023-24 season but was a medical redshirt, sitting out the year due to injury.
