The Saint Joseph’s women’s tennis team was defeated by VCU, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center in Richmond, Virginia.
How It Happened
VCU secured an early advantage by winning two doubles matches. The Rams claimed victories on courts two and three, giving them the doubles point. The top-seeded doubles match was left unfinished with VCU in the lead.
In singles play, VCU sealed the overall win with three quick victories. Although Charlotte Kordonowy lost a tight first-set tiebreak in the second singles match, she was ahead in the second set when the match was called.
Coach’s Take
“We played a strong VCU team today,” said Saint Joseph’s head coach Jeff Puhan. “We had some solid efforts in singles. We’ll get another challenge tomorrow against Richmond.”
What’s Next
The Hawks will stay in Richmond to take on the University of Richmond on Friday.
