UAB Football Unveils 2025 Promotional Schedule with Themed Home Games

The UAB football team has announced its 2025 promotional schedule, highlighting themed events for all six home games this fall at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

The Blazers will kick off the season on Thursday, August 28, with a “Party at Protective” against Alabama State. This marks the seventh time in eight years UAB has opened the season on a Thursday night. Fans can enjoy $5 domestic drink specials as part of the season opener celebration.

After traveling to Navy for a conference matchup, UAB returns home on September 13 to take on Akron. This game will feature Kids Takeover Day, giving young fans a chance to engage with the team in fun ways. It also serves as the Extra Yard for Teachers game, part of a national initiative supported by the College Football Playoff to honor educators.

On October 4, the Blazers host defending American Conference champion Army. This game will double as Salute to Service Day and Family Weekend, celebrating both military personnel and the UAB community. UAB holds a 5-1 record against Army, and this will be the Black Knights’ first visit to Birmingham since 2003.

Homecoming is scheduled for October 18, when UAB faces rival Memphis in the annual Battle for the Bones. This will be the 18th meeting between the two teams, with UAB currently leading the series 10-7.

The Blazers will honor first responders and medical professionals on November 15 during the game against North Texas, as part of their Hometown Heroes celebration.

UAB wraps up its home slate on November 22 against South Florida, marking Senior Day, where the team will recognize its graduating players in their final home appearance.

The 2025 season will be UAB’s fifth at Protective Stadium. Since moving into the venue in 2021, the Blazers have posted a 15-8 home record. Including games at Legion Field since their return to action in 2017, UAB is 36-9 in Birmingham overall.
