Football Queensland (FQ) has announced a major new partnership with McDonald’s, naming the fast-food giant as the Official Quick Service Restaurant Partner for the Far North & Gulf region.
The two-year agreement includes naming rights to the home of football in Cairns, which will now be known as Macca’s Park, replacing the previous name, Endeavour Park.
In addition to naming rights, McDonald’s will support grassroots football across the region. As part of the deal, the company will back local clubs and celebrate young players through the weekly MiniRoos Player of the Week voucher program.
Craig Ramage, FQ’s General Manager for the Northern Conference, called the partnership a major step forward for the sport in the region.
“This is an exciting opportunity to partner with an iconic brand like McDonald’s,” Ramage said. “Their ongoing commitment to community football fits perfectly with our goals for the game in Queensland.”
Ramage highlighted that McDonald’s support would bring real benefits to local clubs, programs, and junior players, helping to create stronger and more inclusive football communities.
“The renaming of Endeavour Park to Macca’s Park is more than symbolic,” he said. “It reflects our shared goal of building welcoming football hubs that inspire the next generation and unite communities.”
Jill Lennox, McDonald’s Far North Queensland Marketing Manager, also welcomed the partnership, stressing the company’s passion for promoting active lifestyles and giving back to the communities it serves.
“We’re proud to support the home of football in Cairns as Macca’s Park,” Lennox said. “Through this partnership, we aim to help young people develop skills like teamwork, commitment, and resilience.”
Lennox also extended thanks to all those involved in local football.
“On behalf of McDonald’s, we’d like to thank the players, parents, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who contributes to Football Far North and Gulf. We look forward to seeing you at Macca’s Park soon.”
