Navy senior Emily Tannenbaum has been named the Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the conference office announced Tuesday. It marks her fourth weekly honor of the spring season and the 12th of her career with the Midshipmen.
Tannenbaum posted a perfect 4-0 record across singles and doubles action in two league matchups, helping Navy dominate Loyola in a 7-0 sweep before narrowly falling to league leader Boston University, 4-3.
In Wednesday’s match against Loyola, Tannenbaum teamed up with Olivia Fermo for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Lauren Manwiller and Emma Roeck. She followed with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory over Christine Richiez in top-flight singles.
She continued her strong play Saturday against Boston, pairing again with Fermo for a 6-4 win in doubles before gutting out a three-set win in singles over Uma Bakaityte, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Tannenbaum has now won nine consecutive singles matches. Her doubles victory against Boston marked her 24th career win at the top doubles position, setting a new program record. She is also one win away from breaking Navy’s single-season doubles wins record of 24.
Navy wraps up its regular season at home on Friday at 3 p.m. against Howard.
