Steven Davis to Join Young Players at Free McDonald’s Fun Football Session in Belfast

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, 27 April, and is open to boys and girls aged 5 to 11, regardless of background or experience. It promises an inclusive and exciting introduction to football in a supportive and friendly setting.

The session is being delivered in partnership with the Irish Football Association (IFA). Professional IFA coaches will lead skills workshops, small games, and fun challenges to help children enjoy and learn more about the game.

Families attending will also be able to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Irish FA’s Education and Heritage Centre, where they can learn about the rich history of Northern Irish football.

Davis praised the initiative and said it reflects his own journey in football.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the kids at the Fun Football session later this month,” Davis said. “A career in football starts at grassroots level. That’s how I started, so it’s great to see the impact McDonald’s and the Irish FA are having across communities in Northern Ireland.”

He added: “The inclusivity of the programme is brilliant. All boys and girls are welcome, no matter their background or ability. I encourage parents to look out for these sessions throughout the year.”

Spaces for the session are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.

McDonald’s Fun Football is the UK’s largest grassroots football programme. It aims to deliver over 10.5 million hours of football to more than one million children by 2026. The programme is run in partnership with the Irish FA, Scottish FA, Football Association of Wales, and other national coaching organisations.
