Lautaro Martínez gave Inter the lead in the first half with a brilliant finish using the outside of his right foot, curling the ball into the top corner. Bayern fought back after the break and leveled through Thomas Müller, who tapped in from close range after sustained pressure.

But Inter weren’t done. Substitute Davide Frattesi scored the winning goal in the 88th minute, finishing off a fast break that started all the way from Inter’s goalkeeper.

After the match, Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi praised his players not just for the win, but for sticking to their style of play.

“We have to congratulate the team,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s not just about the result, but how we achieved it. We played our football and stuck to our principles.”

Inzaghi also highlighted the significance of the win. “This is a top-level result. Bayern had won 23 of their last 27 Champions League games here and drawn the other four. It’s something special. But it won’t matter unless we do it again in the second leg at San Siro.”

Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany adjusted his tactics by benching Müller and using Raphael Guerreiro to closely mark Hakan Calhanoglu in midfield. Still, Inter managed to beat the high press and control key parts of the game.

“They tried to press us, but we played with quality and confidence,” Inzaghi explained. “Both of our goals started with our goalkeeper. Instead of hesitating, he helped launch our attacks from the back.”

Inzaghi praised his team’s focus and spirit: “Even after conceding, we stayed sharp and believed we could win. That goal in the 88th minute shows how much we trusted our approach. We’ve been playing this way for nearly four years.”

The second leg will be held at the San Siro, where Inter will look to complete the job in front of their home fans.
