Saint Joseph’s freshman Matthew Dubas has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Dubas earned the honor after a strong performance in the Hawks’ 4-1 win over Villanova last Wednesday. He teamed up with fellow freshman Santiago Valle for a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 doubles match, giving Saint Joseph’s an early edge.
The Vancouver, British Columbia native then delivered a commanding singles performance, winning 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot to help seal the team victory over the Wildcats.
The award marks a standout moment in Dubas’ first collegiate season, recognizing both his doubles teamwork and singles dominance.
Saint Joseph’s will return to the court on Wednesday with a road match at George Mason. The Hawks will then visit St. John’s on Friday to continue their spring campaign.
