The No. 16 North Florida beach volleyball team ended its weekend at The Best of the West tournament in Laguna Beach, Calif., with two tough losses on Sunday. They fell 4-1 to No. 11 Long Beach State and narrowly lost 3-2 to No. 17 Hawaii.
In their match against Long Beach State, the senior duo of Andrea Da Silva and Hayden Wooldridge earned the only point for North Florida. They won in straight sets, 21-18, 21-15, marking their fifth victory of the season.
Against Hawaii, North Florida fought back in a tight contest. Senior Emily Guenter and sophomore Anne Marie Hardouin won 21-17, 22-20 at the five spot, giving the team its first point. Sophomore Cameron Humphries and senior Taylor Pierce added a win at the three line with a 21-17, 21-17 victory.
North Florida will now return home to host Mercer and Jacksonville at the North Florida Invite on April 11 and 12 at The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex. The team will also honor four seniors before their match against Mercer on Saturday.
