Austin Peay State University’s men’s tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat against Bellarmine on Wednesday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
The Governors (5-11, 1-5 ASUN) were unable to gain early momentum, losing the doubles point after defeats on courts two and three. Tom Bolton and Glen Arnet fell 6-1 to Matthew Nice and Vineet Ramesh, while Giovanni Becchis and Lucas Ranciaro dropped a close 6-4 match to Jack Batchelor and Brent Reynolds. The match on court one was abandoned with Aeneas Schaub and Sota Minami trailing 4-5.
Bellarmine Dominates Singles Play
In singles competition, Bellarmine took control, winning in straight sets on the top three courts to secure the overall victory.
- Jack Batchelor defeated Sota Minami 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
- Matthew Nice edged out Giovanni Becchis 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
- Vineet Ramesh beat Tom Bolton 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
With Bellarmine clinching the match, singles contests on courts four through six were left unfinished.
