The win marked the Seahawks’ fifth straight triumph and kept them undefeated at home with a perfect 6-0 record. They now stand at 8-7 on the season, while Liberty fell to 7-12.
Doubles Success Sets the Tone
Jordi Domenech and Joseph Wayand delivered a statement win in doubles, defeating the nation’s No. 52-ranked duo, Joaquin Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul, 6-3. The victory, sealed on Domenech’s second serve, clinched the doubles point for the Seahawks.
In No. 3 doubles, Harold Huens and Lukas Steffen secured a 6-4 win against Rodrigo Santiago Arraez and Matija Samardzic, marking their fifth victory of the season.
Singles Performances Seal the Win
The Seahawks carried their momentum into singles play, with standout performances from multiple players:
- Sam Nicholson dominated at No. 2 singles, securing his fifth consecutive win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Carl Roothman.
- Harold Huens continued his strong season at No. 1 singles, earning his 47th career win by defeating Almeida 6-2, 6-2.
- Jordi Domenech clinched the match for UNCW with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles against Samardzic.
- Joseph Wayand recorded his team-leading 10th win of the season, overcoming Auytayakul 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.
