Arminia Bielefeld Stun Leverkusen, PSG Stage Comeback, and Bologna Dominate in Cup Action

Third-tier Arminia Bielefeld pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory over DFB-Pokal holders Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, coming from behind to reach the final. The underdogs, who have now eliminated four consecutive Bundesliga teams, became only the fourth third-tier side in history to reach the final.

“I am so proud of the team,” said Bielefeld coach Michél Kniat. “The whole region is feeling this. No one will be sleeping tonight. We defended with a lot of passion and that was the key.”

Leverkusen took the lead in the 17th minute through Jonathan Tah, but their joy was short-lived as Marius Wörl equalized just three minutes later. A spectacular save from Lukas Hradecky kept Leverkusen in the game, but Bielefeld’s Maximilian Grosser volleyed home the winner just before halftime.

Despite late pressure, including an 81st-minute header off the post from Patrik Schick, Leverkusen failed to recover.

“We were missing all our usual strengths,” said Leverkusen midfielder Robert Andrich. “It was clearly our worst game this season. We have to accept that we messed it up.”

Stuttgart and RB Leipzig will contest the other semi-final on Wednesday.

PSG Overcome Two-Goal Deficit to Secure Coupe de France Final Spot

Paris Saint-Germain fought back from 2-0 down to defeat second-tier Dunkerque 4-2, securing a place in the Coupe de France final as they chase a record-extending 16th title.

Dunkerque shocked PSG early on, with Vincent Sasso and Muhannad Yahya al-Saad giving the hosts a two-goal lead. But Ousmane Dembélé pulled one back before halftime, and Marquinhos equalized three minutes into the second half.

A deflected shot from Désiré Doué put PSG ahead before Dembélé sealed the victory in stoppage time with his 32nd goal of the season.

Bologna Dominate Empoli in Coppa Italia Semi-Final First Leg

A Thijs Dallinga brace helped Bologna secure a commanding 3-0 win at Empoli in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

Riccardo Orsolini opened the scoring with a clinical finish, before Dallinga added two goals, both assisted by Dan Ndoye. Bologna, two-time Coppa Italia winners, last lifted the trophy in 1974.

The winner of the tie will meet either Milan or Inter, who play their semi-final first leg on Wednesday.
