Malaysia’s Jacky Kok earned a silver medal in the men’s singles event at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025, after a hard-fought battle against Thailand’s Puritat Arree. The intense final, held at the Tay Ho District Stadium in Hanoi, lasted 83 minutes before Kok, ranked No. 86 in the world, succumbed to a 21-23, 21-17, 15-21 defeat.
The loss broke Kok’s winning streak against Arree, having previously won their two prior encounters. Despite the setback, Kok’s performance in the tournament was commendable.
In the mixed doubles, Malaysia’s Jimmy Wong and Lai Pei Jing also finished as runners-up. The duo was defeated by Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man and Ng Tsz Yau in a close 19-21, 19-21 match.
Although they finished as runners-up, Jimmy and Pei Jing’s performance was impressive, especially considering this was their first tournament together as a pair. Pei Jing is adapting to a new partnership after her previous teammate, Tan Kian Meng, announced his retirement earlier this year. The pair last competed together at the All England in March.
