Antrim and Fermanagh both secured promotion to the Ladies Football League Division Four Final after impressive victories in high-scoring encounters on Sunday.
The Saffrons triumphed over last year’s All-Ireland Intermediate champions Leitrim with a 5-8 to 3-10 win at Kingscourt. Antrim’s early goals from Omolara Danhunsi, Anna Mulholland, and captain Bronagh Devlin helped them lead 3-6 to 2-5 at halftime. Nicole Jones added a fourth goal in the second half, and Devlin completed a 2-3 haul, scoring the Saffrons’ final goal three minutes from time.
Meanwhile, Fermanagh earned a 5-12 to 3-13 victory over Sligo at Tarmonbarry in County Roscommon, securing their promotion after last season’s semi-final exit. Eimear Smyth’s 1-8 and Joanne Doonan’s 2-1 played a pivotal role in the win. After Sligo initially led, Fermanagh fought back with goals from Doonan and Smyth, and a second-half surge sealed their spot in the final.
Despite a late goal from Sligo’s Carol Coleman, Fermanagh remained in control, and with Smyth’s continued scoring, the Erne women were never truly threatened.
In other results, Cork defeated Donegal 1-8 to 0-8 in Division Two, securing their spot in the final against Galway, who also achieved promotion to Division One. Cavan earned a 0-10 to 0-9 victory over Limerick in a Division Three dead rubber, with both teams already secured for promotion and the final.
