Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin is targeting a return to European football after his side secured a top-six finish with a convincing 4-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday.
After missing out on continental competition last season with a seventh-place finish, the Dons now have a strong chance of returning to Europe. They will aim to secure a top-four or top-five spot in the Scottish Premiership, or alternatively, win the Scottish Cup.
“We’ve had a clear vision for the long term from the start, but our focus is on reaching Europe this season,” Thelin said. “We’ll keep pushing until the last game, both in the league and the cup. Nothing changes in terms of our goals, but we must earn it. Now, our attention shifts to the next match away to Ross County.”
Last season, 47 points were enough for St Mirren to secure European football, and with seven matches still remaining, Aberdeen is already on 46 points.
