Rain Delays Djokovic vs. Mensik Miami Open Final

The highly anticipated men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Jakub Mensik at the Miami Open was set to begin no earlier than 3 p.m. local time (EDT) on Sunday. However, rain delayed the match. The tournament’s last event, the men’s final, could not start until after the women’s doubles final finished, which ended just before 8:15 p.m.

The women’s doubles final was scheduled first at Hard Rock Stadium but was interrupted by rain after just three games. Play resumed around 6:45 p.m. in Miami.

Djokovic and Mensik both have major milestones on the line in the final. A victory for the 37-year-old Serbian would make him only the third man in history, after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer, to win 100 tour-level titles. It would also be his record-breaking seventh Miami Open title, surpassing Andre Agassi, with whom he currently shares the record of six wins at the event.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Mensik is chasing his first ATP Tour title. If he wins, he will become only the fourth player in history to secure their maiden title at an ATP Masters 1000 event—the first to do so since 2001.
