The New Orleans Privateers put up a tough fight but ultimately fell 5-2 to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Tuesday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center.
Doubles Play
The doubles competition was intense and came down to the final match. New Orleans struck first as Sep de Visser and Matthew Armbruster secured a 6-3 win at flight one. However, the Islanders responded with a 6-3 victory at flight three from Nathan Favier and Matthieu Coignet.
The decisive match took place at flight two, where Joseph Townes and Jay Temming fought back to level the score at 5-5 after breaking serve. But the Islanders won the next two games to claim the doubles point and take an early lead.
Singles Play
New Orleans earned two wins in singles action. At flight five, David Tesic showed resilience, rallying twice from an early break to take the first set against Nicolas Trebuchet. Tesic ultimately secured the win with a 10-7 victory in the third-set tiebreak.
Julian Franzmann also delivered a strong performance at flight four, winning the first set against Tom Berry and dominating the final set for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sealed the match with key wins across the lineup. Favier took a hard-fought match at flight one, winning 6-1, 7-6 (5). Harry Fouzas earned a straight-set victory at flight six, edging out his opponent 7-5, 6-4.
The Islanders also picked up two more three-set wins. Omar Suarez prevailed in a lengthy battle, while Nicholas Niox secured the final point when Townes was forced to retire after five games in the third set.

New Orleans will look to bounce back when they host Nicholls on Thursday, March 27.
