The Ithaca College baseball team continued its offensive onslaught with a 20-11 victory over St. John Fisher at Dugan Yard on Monday afternoon. This marks the Bombers’ fourth straight game scoring double-digit runs, improving their season record to 10-7.
Ithaca jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Andrew McDermott crossed the plate on a passed ball, followed by Camden Laney’s double that brought in Ethan McDonough. Laney later scored on a wild pitch, and Logan Scully capped off the inning with a double that plated Collin Feeney.
St. John Fisher responded with three runs in the bottom of the first, but Ithaca extended its lead with an RBI single from Feeney in the second, followed by a sacrifice fly from Riley Brawdy and an error in the third to make it 7-4.
The Cardinals closed the gap to 7-6 with an RBI double and a solo home run in the fourth. However, Ithaca exploded for 13 runs over the next three innings, building a commanding 20-6 lead heading into the ninth. Key plays in the surge included a two-run home run by Brawdy in the seventh, a three-run error off Tyler Pugliese’s bat in the eighth, and a two-run triple by Matt Curtis, followed by a two-run double from Ethan Fantel in the same inning.
St. John Fisher managed five runs in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap, as the Bombers secured the 20-11 victory.
Ithaca used seven pitchers in the game, with Sean Kelly earning the win after pitching 2.0 innings of relief, striking out three.
The Bombers will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series at Clarkson.
