Danish badminton star Line Kjærsfeldt has advanced to the final of the Super 300 Swiss Open, marking her seventh career final. She secured her place by defeating Canada’s Michelle Li in a hard-fought semifinal, winning 21-14, 12-21, 21-17.
In the decisive third set, the 30-year-old Kjærsfeldt elevated her game to a level that the 33-year-old Li could not match. The victory gives Kjærsfeldt a shot at her first-ever BWF World Tour title.
On Sunday, she will face former world number one Chen Yu Fei in the final. The Chinese star boasts an impressive résumé, including an Olympic gold medal from Tokyo 2021 and 15 BWF World Tour titles.
This will be Kjærsfeldt’s first final on the BWF World Tour since the 2024 Canada Open, where she fell short in her sixth career final. Despite reaching multiple finals, she is still searching for her first title.
Denmark remains the most successful nation in the Swiss Open’s 70-year history with 55 titles. However, the past three tournaments have ended without a Danish champion. Kjærsfeldt now has the chance to break that drought and add another title to Denmark’s legacy.
