Florida Gulf Coast University men’s basketball will take on Army in the CBI Quarterfinals on Monday at 2 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Eagles (18-14) are making their first postseason appearance under head coach Pat Chambers and enter the tournament as one of the top-ranked teams in the field, per KenPom rankings.
Army (17-15) earned its spot in the quarterfinals with a dramatic comeback victory over Elon, rallying from a 21-point deficit to win 83-78. The Black Knights, who went 10-8 in Patriot League play, also boast a win over NCAA Tournament qualifier American University this season.
This will be just the third meeting all-time between FGCU and Army and the first since 2008. The Eagles, who finished 13-5 in ASUN play, secured their most conference wins since the historic 2012-13 “Dunk City” Sweet 16 run.
The winner of Monday’s game will advance to the CBI Semifinals on Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ESPNU. The CBI Championship is set for Wednesday at 5 p.m. on ESPN2.
