Stanford’s Winning Streak Ends with 4-2 Loss to Virginia

No. 8 Stanford men’s tennis saw its six-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday, falling 4-2 to No. 6 Virginia. The Cardinal now holds a 13-5 record this season, including a 5-3 mark in ACC play.

Virginia took an early lead by claiming the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. The Cavaliers extended their advantage to 2-0 with a singles win on court five before Stanford’s Nico Godsick responded with a 6-3, 6-4 victory on court six. Henry von der Schulenburg then tied the match at 2-2 with a three-set win on court four (6-4, 1-6, 6-2), marking his team-leading 13th singles victory of the season.

Stanford’s Kyle Kang forced a third set on court one after winning a second-set tiebreaker 7-5. However, Virginia secured the overall win with three-set victories on courts two and three, sealing a 4-2 victory.
