After a commanding home victory over Wagner College on Saturday, the Howard University men’s tennis team struggled to carry that momentum into Sunday’s road match, falling 4-1 to Longwood University.
Freshman Kaosie Nwokedi provided the lone point for the Bison, defeating Longwood’s Petar Belosevic in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
Second-year player Mitchell Yon showed resilience against Ian Perl, dropping the first set 2-6 before taking a 4-1 lead in the second. However, the match was left unfinished. Longwood won the remaining three singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles play, Howard put up a fight but ultimately lost all three matches in close battles, with scores of 7-6 [7-5], 7-6 [13-11], and 7-5.
