La Rioja, Argentina, will host the 2025 Sudamérica Rugby U18s tournament from April 9-11. This marks the first time the western Argentine city will stage the event, which will feature teams from Chile, Uruguay, and two squads from Argentina.
Argentina has dominated the competition, winning all five previous editions. The team claimed victory in 2018 in Asunción (Paraguay), twice in 2019 in Montevideo (Uruguay) and Asunción, and most recently in Río Segundo (Argentina) in 2023 and 2024.
The 2025 tournament will take place at Estadio Carlos Augusto Mercado Luna, a 30,000-capacity venue. Matches will be played in two 20-minute halves, with games scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, and Friday, April 11.
The format includes a round-robin first stage where all teams face each other. The top two teams will compete in the final, while the bottom two will play in the Bronze Final.
The Sudamérica Rugby U18s plays a crucial role in developing young talent. It serves as a stepping stone from school-level rugby to U20 competition. With Super Rugby Americas now providing a professional pathway, standout players have opportunities to advance to teams like Selknam, Peñarol Rugby, Los Dogos, Los Pampas, and Los Tarucas.
