Tennis Canada has announced the recipients of the 2024 Masters Excellence Awards, celebrating outstanding achievements in both team and individual categories. These awards recognize the remarkable performances of Canadian players throughout the 2024 season, including their success on the international stage.
Team Canada’s Standout Year
At the 2024 ITF World Team Championships in Turkey, Team Canada delivered an impressive showing, earning two medals. The Bitsy Grant Cup Men’s Over 75 team secured a gold medal, while the Jack Crawford Cup Men’s Over 70 team brought home silver. Both teams were honored with the 2024 Masters Teams Award.
The gold-winning Men’s Over 75 team featured Tim Griffin, Chris Burr, and Joe Forrayi, while the silver-winning Men’s Over 70 team included Keith Porter, Brian Millar, and Daryl Howes-Jones.
Recognizing Individual Excellence
The 2024 Masters Individual Awards were presented to several Canadian players for their outstanding performances at the ITF World Championships:
- Brian Millar reached the Men’s Over 70 singles semi-finals.
- Chris Burr advanced to the Men’s Over 75 singles semi-finals.
- Tim Griffin finished as a finalist in the Men’s Over 75 singles.
- Horst Dammholz and Raynold D’Aoust were recognized for their runner-up finish in the Men’s Over 85 doubles final.
- Burr and Griffin were crowned Men’s Over 75 doubles World Champions.
