How It Happened
Quinnipiac struck first when James Marino scored on an RBI groundout by Alex Irizarry. Yale responded in the third inning, scoring twice—once on an RBI groundout and again on a double—to take the lead.
The Bobcats tied the game in the fifth when Johnny Knox’s sacrifice fly brought CJ Willis home. However, Yale quickly regained control, scoring two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 4-2.
The Bulldogs extended their lead with two runs in the seventh and another two in the eighth, sealing the victory. Quinnipiac was unable to generate offense in the final innings, allowing Yale to close out the game comfortably.
