Badminton Papua New Guinea is hosting a groundbreaking initiative this week, showcasing how para-athletes can find purpose and build successful careers through sports.
Leading the program are para-sport legend Wojtek Czyz and Badminton Oceania’s Dhanny Oud, who are conducting transformative coaching sessions for para-badminton athletes. These sessions aim to prepare players for the VICTOR Oceania Para Badminton Championships 2025.
Empowering the Next Generation
Beyond coaching, Czyz is taking his mission further by visiting communities around Port Moresby. His goal is to introduce children to badminton while sharing his inspiring journey as a para-athlete. His story of perseverance and success serves as a powerful example of how sports can change lives and unite communities.
A Champion’s Legacy
Czyz is a four-time Paralympic champion who represented Germany in track and field at three Paralympic Games—Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, and London 2012. Later, he switched allegiance to New Zealand and competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics in badminton. His achievements continue to inspire para-athletes worldwide.
