Radford women’s tennis pulled off a dramatic comeback on Wednesday, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Longwood in Big South competition.
The Lancers started strong by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and one. Alexandra Magia and Feline van Eijkelenburg dominated Rachel Ekanem and Natalia Reimer, 6-2, while Karina Rizvanova and Elizaveta Gnilozubova sealed the point with a 6-4 victory over Julia Abrams and Lexi Smolder.
In singles play, Phoebe Mitchell gave Longwood an early boost with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Brooke Murphy at the No. 4 spot. Magia extended the lead to 3-1 after defeating Reimer 6-2, 6-4.
However, Radford responded by winning the final three matches, securing the overall victory.
With the win, Radford improved to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in Big South play, while Longwood dropped to 5-7 and 0-2 in the conference.
The Lancers will look to bounce back on Friday when they face George Mason at 1 p.m.
