A dedicated tennis fan has bid an impressive 155,000 Danish kroner (approximately €21,000) for a one-hour tennis session with Danish star Holger Rune. The proceeds will go to Børns Vilkår, a children’s rights organization that Rune actively supports.
Earlier this month, Rune launched an online auction, allowing fans to bid on a private tennis lesson with him. The auction also included a racket Rune used at the 2025 Australian Open and 2024 Rolex Paris Masters.
Bidding War for a Good Cause
The auction started with a minimum bid of 10,000 kroner (€1,300), but the excitement quickly escalated. By Tuesday afternoon, the highest offer stood at 60,000 kroner (€8,000). However, in the final hours, a new bidder entered the competition, pushing the winning bid to 155,000 kroner.
Rune was thrilled by the overwhelming support for the cause.
“It’s completely crazy. But I’m also a good tennis player,” Rune joked in an interview with TV2 Sport. “No, I’m joking. It really means a lot because the goal is to help kids. That someone is willing to pay this much to play with me is incredible.”
Making a Difference for Children
As a Børns Vilkår ambassador, Rune has consistently worked to support children’s well-being. He emphasized the importance of using his platform to make a difference.
“We can help a lot of children and give back to those who dream of achieving something in life. It warms my heart, and I try to be a good role model in Denmark.”
Rune is now preparing for his next challenge at the Miami Open, following his runner-up finish at Indian Wells.
