China’s top seed Shi Yuqi claimed his second All England Open Badminton Championships men’s singles title on Sunday, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chia-hao 21-17, 21-19 in a hard-fought final.

Shi, 29, reached his fourth tournament final after overcoming compatriot and defending champion Li Shifeng in the semifinals. The 2018 champion credited his victory to patience and strategy, keeping rallies long and capitalizing on Lee’s errors.

In the women’s singles final, South Korea’s top seed An Se-young staged a comeback to defeat China’s second seed Wang Zhiyi 13-21, 21-18, 21-18.

An, the reigning Olympic champion, extended her unbeaten streak this year across four tournaments. She admitted the final was a challenge but emphasized her determination.

“I had all sorts of emotions during the second game. But one thought was clear—I wouldn’t give up,” An said. She sealed the second game with four consecutive points after trailing 17-18.

In doubles action, China’s Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui secured their first mixed doubles title, while Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida claimed victory in the women’s doubles.

The men’s doubles crown went to South Korea’s Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae, who defeated Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana in the final.
