Babson College men’s tennis players Ole Lepsoe and Alexander Merson have been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week. The honor was announced on Monday following their standout performance in a major upset.
Lepsoe, a senior from Oslo, Norway, and Merson, a junior from Palisades Park, New Jersey, played a key role in No. 18 Babson’s historic 5-2 victory over No. 6 Middlebury on Sunday in Claremont, California. The duo secured a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, rallying from a 4-3 deficit by winning the final three games to clinch the doubles point. The victory helped the Beavers earn their first-ever win over a top-10 opponent in program history.
Lepsoe holds a 7-7 doubles record this season, while Merson, who transferred from Brandeis, is 7-4. As a pair, they are 1-1, with both matches coming against top-10 Division III opponents—No. 3 Tufts and No. 6 Middlebury.
Babson (6-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) continues its California trip with two matches on Monday. The team will face No. 31 Salisbury at 12:00 p.m. (ET) before taking on Glendale Community College at 4:30 p.m. (ET).
