Lancers Struggle as Wildcats Secure 4-1 Victory

The Longwood men’s tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to Davidson in a non-conference match on Sunday.

The Lancers’ lone point came from Alejandro Uribe, who delivered a commanding performance at No. 4 singles, defeating Sebastian Carpio Moran 6-1, 6-1. His win briefly evened the match at 1-1, but Davidson responded with a strong showing in singles play.

The Wildcats (8-6) secured the doubles point early, winning on courts one and two. Nico Pinzon and Gregorio Hidalgo cruised past Timéo Puech and Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva 6-1, while Juan Carlos Perez Gongora and Uddayvir Singh edged out Petar Belosevic and Petter Lindqust 6-4.

Davidson regained the lead as Perez Gongora defeated Gonzalez Paiva 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Hidalgo followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Belosevic at No. 3, and Singh clinched the match with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win against Puech at No. 1.

With the loss, Longwood drops to 3-6 on the season. The Lancers will look to bounce back on Friday when they face George Mason at 1 p.m.
