No. 9 Stanford men’s tennis wrapped up a successful weekend in ACC play with a dominant 4-0 victory over No. 25 Florida State. The win improves Stanford’s record to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in conference competition.
The Cardinal gained an early advantage by securing the doubles point. After falling behind initially, Stanford fought back as Max Basing and Kyle Kang earned a 6-4 victory on court two. Nico Godsick and Henry von der Schulenburg followed with a hard-fought tiebreaker win, 7-6 (1), giving Stanford a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles play, Samir Banerjee wasted no time extending Stanford’s lead. He cruised past the nation’s 19th-ranked player, dropping just one game in a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory. Godsick added to the advantage with a straight-sets win on court six, 6-3, 7-5.
Stanford had several opportunities to secure the match on multiple courts, but it was Alex Razeghi who delivered the decisive point. He battled through three sets to claim a 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 victory—his eighth dual win of the season, tying him with von der Schulenburg for the team lead.
Stanford continues its four-match homestand on Thursday, March 13, when it hosts Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m.
