The University of San Francisco beach volleyball team (0-6) struggled on the first day of its second tournament of the season, falling to No. 15 Hawaii (1-6) 4-1 and Saint Mary’s (7-3) 3-2 Thursday afternoon at Queen’s Beach.
The Dons faced a tough challenge against host team Hawaii in the opening match of the tournament. Despite a strong effort, San Francisco was defeated 4-1. Later in the day, the team faced Saint Mary’s and dropped another close match, losing 3-2.
A bright spot for the Dons was the performance of McKenna Towne and Kaydence Stormes, who earned two victories on the day. Their wins also marked the duo’s team-leading third win of the season, helping to secure the two points for San Francisco.

- Towne/Stormes (USF) defeated Crump/Swanson (SMC) 21-13, 21-14
- Bour/Sherman (SMC) defeated Stevens/Reeves (USF) 21-15, 14-21, 15-12
- Lennon/Smith (USF) defeated Glick/Bane (SMC) 21-16, 10-21, 15-13
- Nicholls/Travis (SMC) defeated Stanschus/Speier (USF) 21-18, 22-20
