The Shopian Ball Badminton Championship, organized by the Shopian Ball Badminton Association in partnership with the J&K Ball Badminton Association and supported by the J&K Sports Council, concluded successfully at the Sports Stadium Shopian on Thursday.
Held over two days, from March 4 to March 5, the championship saw 12 teams compete in both men’s and women’s categories. The event highlighted the growing interest in ball badminton in the region.
The closing ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Kunwar Singh of the 14th Battalion CRPF, and Guests of Honour Ghulam Rasool Khanday (Manager, Sports Stadium Shopian) and Abdul Hamid (Incharge, Sports Stadium Shopian). Their presence added importance to the event, inspiring young athletes to strive for excellence in sports.
The championship featured thrilling matches, with players showcasing impressive skill, strategy, and teamwork. Spectators were treated to exciting rallies and competitive play, making it a true celebration of the sport.
Muzamil Hamid, the organizing secretary, was credited with the success of the tournament. His dedication and detailed planning ensured a well-managed event. With the support of the Shopian Ball Badminton Association, Hamid provided a platform for young athletes to display their talents.
