Navy Men’s Tennis Sweeps Morgan State in Dominant 7-0 Victory

The Navy men’s tennis team secured a commanding 7-0 victory over Morgan State on Tuesday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis. The Mids improved to 12-7 on the season, while Morgan State fell to 0-7.

Navy swept all three doubles matches before winning each of the six singles matches in straight sets.

Luke Garner and Jake Young led the way at No. 1 doubles, earning a 6-3 win over Makkijah Brown and Reda Ghettas. Garner carried that momentum into his singles match, defeating Majdi Abdelwahed 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3. Young also delivered in singles play with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Yessine Kerouat at No. 2.

At No. 2 doubles, Herrick Legaspi and Tommy Kim claimed a 6-2 victory over Abdelwahed and Kerouat. Legaspi then dominated Brown at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.

J.J. Etterbeek and Jason Kim teamed up at No. 3 doubles for a 6-2 win against Bertin Karenzi and Anthony Parris. Etterbeek continued his strong performance in singles, securing a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Karenzi at No. 4.

Rounding out the sweep, George Cutone defeated Ghettas 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, while Jason Kim overpowered Antonio Santos 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

Navy will return to action on Friday, hosting Monmouth at 9:30 a.m. and Drexel at 1 p.m.
