Former Orleans Masters champion Priyanshu Rajawat is set for a high-stakes opening-round clash against home favorite Alex Lanier at the Orleans Masters Badminton 2025.
Rajawat, who lifted the title in 2023, will be aiming to break a string of disappointing early exits. The Indian shuttler has struggled with consistency, failing to progress past the second round in eight of his last nine tournaments. Orleans offers him a chance to regain his form on familiar ground.
Lanier, on the other hand, comes into the match in top form. The French star has never advanced beyond the quarterfinals in Orleans, but he is riding a wave of confidence after winning the Japan Open and reaching the semifinals in Denmark. The two players have faced off twice before, with each winning once.
The winner of this key battle will move on to face either Takuma Obayashi or Brian Yang in the next round. Meanwhile, top seed Lee Zii Jia is positioned at the top of the draw and will be seeking his first title since June.
